Self-Pay and Insurance

For Face-to-Face Counseling, We accept Cash, Check, and Credit Card.

Video Counseling will be by Credit Card. Video Counseling may be covered by insurance companies. Please check into your plan.

For Counseling Clients- Some Flexible Spending Accounts will work and some will not. We can swipe (in office clients) the Flex Spending Card to see if it will accept the charge. In the event that the Card does not work, you will pay for the session, and I will give you a receipt for you to submit in your Flex Spending Account for reimbursement. This is a normal procedure, and you should not have any issues.

Counseling Clients wishing to use their Health Insurance:

You will be able to utilize your health insurance benefits through your out-of network benefits provider services. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit.

You will be required to make payment in full at time of service and submit a receipt to the insurance company for reimbursement. I will provide a receipt for you to submit.

Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

ï‚· Do I have mental health benefits?

ï‚· What is my deductible and has it been met?

ï‚· How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

ï‚· How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?

ï‚· What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

ï‚· Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Benefits for Not using Insurance for Payment

Many clients prefer to self-pay due to privacy of treatment. When the insurance company is involved, the number of sessions is controlled, which may cause therapy to end before the treatment is completed.  In addition, the insurance company will require the therapist to give the client a clinical mental health diagnosis, which will remain in the permanent insurance file. The insurance company may ask to see your confidential therapy file, and the therapist is obligated to send a copy of your file to them. Your privacy and confidentiality cannot be protected from the insurance company.

Please note:

$75.00 charge for checks returned Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) or disputed Credit Card charges, in addition to the regular session charge.
